Partner poses not only provide an opportunity for children to learn new yoga poses but they offer an array of positive benefits! Whether that be classmates or family members, partner poses create physical connection and bonding opportunities with others. To get in an out of a partner pose yogis must communicate with your partner to ensure safety and respect of each others bodies. This teaches children functional communication skills and how to build trust with their peers.
A physical benefit of partner poses is stretching! Typically with a partner you can stretch deeper into yoga poses than you would be able to do independently - alternatively for yoga poses that require balance, finding a partner can help children confidently and safely hold a pose. We hope you can try some partner poses at home!
